If you are a neighbourhood warden, did you know that you could have powers to help the police make communities safer? The Government’s Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) is a voluntary scheme that gives limited, but targeted, powers to people already working in roles which contribute to maintaining and improving community safety. These roles tend to include neighbourhood wardens, hospital security guards, park wardens, shopping mall guards and train guards.
The scheme sets out how public and private bodies can work in partnership with the police, providing additional uniformed presence in communities. It also makes the most of the skills and information captured by those already engaged with the community.
