We all know that walking is great exercise, and most of us should probably be doing more of it. Volunteering as a walking buddy is a sociable role which can make a real difference to an elderly person, recovering patient or someone with a learning difficulty or physical impairment. It also gets you outdoors and exercising too.
Setting up buddy walking is a fantastic way to meet fellow residents, make an impact on your community and get fit while you’re at it. Anyone can get involved, and either set up regular walking trips or one-off events as a fundraiser or just for fun – whether it’s a demanding country hike or a stroll through the park.
