There are a whole range of groups doing neighbourhood planning. About 80% are in parished areas where there is siginificant development pressure – so in the South East, South West and areas surrounding cities in the midlands and the north of England.
The other 20% are in unparished areas. The leadership here has come from a whole range of groups – sometimes conservation or environmental groups; sometimes local community trusts serving a housing estate or similar; sometimes a group of residents associations. It depends what issues a group is seeking to address, and whether spatial planning is relevant to the issue(s).
