Step 1 - Find out what's already happening

Find out about your area using Community organising

Community organising is a way of finding out what’s already happening in your area by building relationships with people in your community. It’s a really effective way of getting meaningful information and involving others in your community project’s work.

This guide introduces the basics of community organising – it’s got tips on how you can make it work in your area and some great case studies telling you how it’s worked well elsewhere.

The guide was developed as part of the Our Place programme: grants and support to help your community tackle local issues. You can find out more about Our Place here on the My Community website. Or if you have any questions, you can ask the My Community Network, housed in the Just Act forum.
